Nose & Eyelashes

musings of the beast and the brain inside the poet and artist that is ArinMaya

not so profound

inspired by this blog: http://ow.ly/SAp4

so last night i had the occasion of taking this medicine that is higly unpleasant and makes me cringe. we’ll say it’s the flavor, or the way it goes down, or doesn’t, so uneasily. either way, after i took it, i couldn’t go to sleep. i was in a hell of sorts, and my body was in a state of disrest. (is that a word?)

anyway, in order to combat my discomfort, i found that i had to change my music from the funk-pop I was listening to (i always like to stretch my ear a little bit) to something a bit more soothing.

i chose enya. i’m not sure if you’re familiar with her but most of her music is extra peaceful to the point that you think you’re in a forest, surrounded by healthy trees and birds that swoop low but not to close like NY pigeons…you envision a wood and a stump of a tree to sit on and just be in the moment.

and aside from the nightmare i had (which i’ve completely forgotten now, thank God) i slept peacefully, so much so, that i didn’t want to get up this morning. but alas, there is work to do! but the point is, music is often, at least for me, a determiner of my mood. and can send me high or make me dance, or encourage me to get my cleaning done or inspire me to do better, or just make me think. i try to keep positive music in my collection as i haven’t yet found a use for angry/sad music that would bring me down, but that’s just me.

so i say to you, choose your music wisely. and select it based on where you want to be and how you want to feel. and let it take you where you want to go.

have a great, peaceful attitude towards your wonderfully productive day!
