Work dangit!
All I could say was wow just now when this ANGEL from on high returned my luggage to me from my trip to DC this weekend.
I didn’t even lose my bag. I simply got off the bus and walked away. I was contemplating whether or not to take a cab in my sleepy stupor, and then realized I had to use the restroom. Saw McDonald’s open, went back & forth with the 24hr staff to let me use the restroom BEFORE as opposed to after my purchase. Came back down with hash browns on my mind. Debit machine not working, visit “free” ATM machine that the cashier had said was free. Toyed with the incorrect information versus my desire to stick to my word that I would buy post peeing…. Got over it. Walked out and down to the train now more fully awake and able to take on the shifty 2/3 trains to BK.
Standing tentatively on the platform hoping the express train stops on the center platform as it’s now well after 5am. Signage is in my favor. Readjust ipod selection. Waiting….and here comes the angel. She starts talking-asking me if I was just on ‘that bus that just left from DC’ - “yes”…..’Come get it’
In my mind I haven’t the slightest idea what this woman is talking about, referring to-at all.
But I follow her because she seems confident in whatever it is AND I remember feeling slightly sorry for her as she was getting off the bus because she’d had to speak briskly to someone who bumped past her. She’s four months pregnant.
We arrive at the destination 9ft away from where I was. My suitcase. And she’s still talking, telling me she was searching for some identification-some way to figure out whose bag it is. She had found my camera. Seen me. Was trying to find me. Was going to find my address, or try.
And she found me, and I had my bag. And I was still a bit sleepy stupored but was finally able to get a good ten thank yous out. And a whole lot more wows. I believe in the immense goodness of people. I believe we are all angels standing in the shadows, waiting for our chance to bless the next person in need. This is not a religious based belief. It’s a human, spirit based belief. But I will say, the entire time, the song playing on my ipod: Yolanda Adams’ The Battle Is Not Yours. Watch God (whoever yours may be)
