press release
so i’ve been working on my EP…mastering is still underway, promotions… (wait, who’s handling the promotions??!)
oh yea—me.
and what do i know about promotions? I did PR in my former life as a box office girl. as in i worked in a box bka cubicle, and wrote press releases and stuff like that. i actually enjoyed calling and not getting called back. the rush of trekking people down who were likely just not answering because their attention was focused on some celebrity’s new hairstyle, or better a barney’s sample sale.
i’m not judging. i’m just sayin…i used to love it. and all in the name of…books.
but alas, the work got done THEN.
now it’s a whole different ballgame. i’m supposed to publicize MYSELF.
and let me tell you-well let me tell you for me: i think i may be a little too humble (at least now) for this part of the game.
it seems to require (“it” being success in music business, or should i say showbiz?) a certain loud level of pride and high heavy esteem. the umph to say “i’m soooo hot—you don’t know me!?!? Well hop-to then!”
and i guess i’m more laid back. more laissez-faire. more natural. less in-yo-face.
…only thing is, i don’t think that wins the race :(
back to finding places to send this press release….!
